Crude oil contains sulfur compounds, most of which is removed during processing. However the sulfur compounds remain in the oil and some of them may cause corrosion of metallurgy. This corrosiveness may not depend from total sulfur content. Corrosiveness depends on type of sulfur compounds. Test on the copper plate is designed to evaluate relative grade of corrosivity of fuel.
Copper corrosion test is a qualitative assessment of corrosiveness of fuel on a copper strip. Tests are carried out in accordance with ASTM D130. The test method consists in holding a copper strip in fuel at elevated temperature and fixing its appearance and changes of color characterizing corrosion effects.
We offer a model of THIONOL-S catalyst assigned to improve copper corrosion test to fulfill strict requirements.
